about

The inner critic can be such a burden until we see it for what it is. As soon as we step into the Observer role and shine light on the "chaos" that our minds create, there is a great liberation, an embodied sense of joy. Before that, the world can feel like a very heavy place to be. Show Up is saying to the unobserved mental chatter reveal yourself, you're all smoke and mirrors, I see you and I'm not falling for you. It's dedicated to Phillip Stewart, an amazing musician, mathematician and craftsman who took his own life earlier this year. We miss you dear Phillip.

lyrics

VERSE 1
Who are you? Watcha doing in there?
You’re stuck in my head and it don’t feel fair
You whinge and you moan at all that I do
Life used to be perfect until I met you…
Then you showed up and I lost my way
Snuck into my life I’d looked the other way
You close my heart with your mindless noise
Distract me with trinkets and expensive toys.

CHORUS
Show up! Show up! Reveal yourself for what you really are
Show up! I want to see your face, you hide behind words you make me feel a disgrace.

VERSE 2
Who are you, watcha doing in here?
Every night and day you wanna fill me with fear
I toss and I turn rolling round in my bed
Like that damn mosquito, you buzz right through my head
Don’t know where to turn I cant take any more
Its time to check out - just show me the door
You thrive on dramas I’m starting to drown
In your ocean of anxiety I’m on my way down

CHORUS
Show up! Show up! Reveal yourself for what you really are
Show up! I want to see your face, you hide behind words you make me feel a disgrace.

VERSE 3
No story, see what’s right here
No story, you don’t have to hold dear
To what the past has told you you need to be
To all the rules and regulations of society
I used to think you were part of me
Now I know you’re just a fantasy
Don’t need your judgments, your critical eye ,
I’ve turned down the volume now I’m back to joy

FINAL CHORUS VARIATION

You showed up! Oh yeh You showed up! Revealed yourself for what you really are
You showed up! Now I see your face You’re just a bunch of words, you put a smile on my face!
